In Oasis Otters Swimming club, we have set up young swimmers' competition pathway align with our structured training program. When young kids finished their Learn to Swim program, they will be able to enter our Development Squad. They will be taught the proper way to swim competitive strokes. They start participating our monthly in house competition, Mini Meet, and Distance Test Meet. Swimmers' results will be logged into club system. These results can be used to evaluate their training progress and fitness level.
When they are ready, coaches will inform their parents to choose some targeted external Novice Meets. Swimmers can practice their competition skills in these real competitions suitable to their level. Our club also host annual Twilight Encourage Meet in May each year. This serves as the start point of their competition pathway.
Beside these novice level encouragement meets, there are two important Junior competition set up by District and State: Metro Junior District Competition held on November each year, and Metro All Junior held on April each year.
Metro Junior District Competition
Metro Junior District Competition is open to registered swimmers age from 8 years old to 12 years old. Swimmers will compete at their District selection trial meet first. Swimmers made top 10 position in each event will be selected to represent the District Team to compete at State Metro Junior Competition Final in November. These swimmers will be automatically enter the Metro Junior District Competition by District.The Metro All Junior
The Metro All Junior is open to all registered and unregistered swimmers aged from 11 under to 16 years old. All swimmers will compete at District Selection Trial meet first. Swimmers made top 10 position in each event will be qualify for State Metro All Junior Semi Final. They will enter the Metro All Junior Semi Final to compete all other top 10 swimmers for each event from other Metro Districts. Top 10 swimmers will be advanced to the Metro All Junior Final.
When swimmers achieved certain standard, coaches will take them to participate series targeted qualify meet. These qualify meets are standard competitions confirm FINA rules. All swimmers will gain experience for formal swimming competition. They are compete for achieving State Qualify Times for varies State Championships. When they achieved designated times they will be able to compete at these Championships. such as Victorian Short Course Age Championships, Victorian Long Course Age Championships, Victorian Open Championships, Victorian Sprint Championships. When they achieved even higher standard for the Age National, they will be able to compete at Australian Age Championships.
For the swimmers qualified Open National Time and achieved elite level, they will participate the Australian Open Championships, for their chance to qualify the international competitions.
